Roger Goodspeed - Synesthesia

Chopin's Polonaise by Roger Goodspeed

Chopin's Polonaise by Roger Goodspeed

Freeport artist Roger Goodspeed has Synesthesia, a unique condition shared by only 4 % of the population. When Roger listens to music, his brain responds with images and colors. Each of his abstract paintings bears the title of the music he listened to as shapes and colors formed in his mind. This selection of paintings is featured in the Newell Gallery.

On September 16th at 6:30 pm, Roger will lead a workshop in painting from music. Although he can not give you synesthesia, he will inspire you to picture shapes and colors in your response to the music.
