Art Explorations for Homeschooled Students

FALL 2026 CLASSES BEGIN ON SEPTEMBER 24TH

The Freeport Art Museum offers engaging homeschool art programs on Thursday afternoons in our classroom. Designed to inspire creativity and curiosity, these studio-based classes introduce students to a wide range of artistic media, techniques, and forms of expression while exploring the connections between art, culture, history, and other academic disciplines. The 2026-2027 homeschool program will emphasize art history, diverse artistic media, STEAM concepts, creative exploration, and skill development, with every lesson incorporating one or more elements of STEAM. Through hands-on projects and visits to the museum galleries, students will gain an appreciation for how art reflects cultures around the world while developing the ability to observe, interpret, and thoughtfully discuss major works of art as well as their own creative achievements.

Classes will be split by age into two classes (Classes will need a minimum of 6 students to run, and cap out at 12):

  • Little Makers (age 6-10) will meet Thursdays from 10:00AM to 12:00PM

  • Next Gen Artists (ages 11-14) will meet Thursdays from 1:00PM to 3:00PM
