Selections from FAM's permanent collection.

  • Freeport Art Museum 121 North Harlem Avenue Freeport, IL, 61032 United States (map)

As a way to thank the incredible number of local donors who continually support the Freeport Art Museum during these unprecedented times, FAM is delighted to announce the new exhibition, Selections from the Collections—a must-see exhibition of select objects from FAM's extensive collections, some of which have never been on display.

It would require a visit to a much larger institution to experience similar pieces to FAM’s permanent collection, which spans across centuries and continents. The breadth and distinction of FAM's collection provided a fertile field to select from and offers many "wow" moments for the viewer. Pieces as diverse as a Papua New Guinea Fire Dance Mask and a Georges Braque etching explore the influences, dissonances, and similarities of artwork and objects from places and times both near and distant. Executive Director Jason Judd and Director of Education and Exhibitions Barry Treu dove into the vaults to assemble this exhibition. Both Judd and Treu are sure viewers will find great surprises in the juxtaposition in their culturally and historically diverse selection.

In keeping with current Covid-19 protocol there will be no opening reception however the museum will be open for visitors. Face masks are required and social distancing inside the museum is advised. The museum does frequent cleaning of touchable surfaces and will monitor the number of visitors in the museum.

This exhibition is supported by the Illinois Arts Council, a state agency and made possible by Arts Work Fund, The Chicago Community Trust, and members like you.
